ABOUT HARSTAD

A COASTAL TOWN IN ARCTIC NORTHERN NORWAY

 

Harstad has a population of 25 000 people, and is beautifully situated between fjords and mountains, and covered by a sky lit up by the magic northern lights on clear nights from September to April. During the summer the town is bathed in light 24 hours because of the midnight sun.

Harstad has exciting botique shops, high quality restaurants and atmospheric cafes. There is also a culture house, a cinema, a museum and a galleri. People travel from the whole region ot use the local water world 'Grottebadet'; three swimmingpools, each with different temperatures, a jaquzee, a steam room and saunas.
