Elle Márjá Eira and Ida Madsen Hestman talk about colonialism, power and identity on film.The films in the program for this year's Arctic Moving Image & Film Festival (AMIFF) is their starting point.

The conversation takes place in Norwegian.

Elle Márjá Eira is a director, artist and composer. She directed the Swedish Netflix film Stöld (Stolen). The film was on the Top 10 list in a total of 71 countries after its premiere on 12 April 2024. Elle Márjá is one of the directors of the award-winning TV series Makta (episode 7).

Eira has been a co-composer in several film projects, and has toured the world with his music.

Ida Madsen Hestman is a film and music critic, journalist and media scholar. She is editor and founder of the Culture Platform TBA (TBATBA.NO). She regularly writes in Musikkmagasinet, in Klassekampen and has, among other things, a background from NRK, VG, Dagbladet, Z Filmtidsskrift, NattogDag and the film magazine Montages.

In 2024, she received a critic's grant from Fritt Ord for the second time, and she will also write her first book about the film "Lasse & Geir" in the Norwegian film classics book series.
