Pia is 25 years old, after struggling against life issues, she feels desperate by its toughness and have to move back to her family home. Her main goal is to come back for a better start. Sam, her twin brother, still lives at the mom’s house, he doesn’t handle his life the same way his sister does and he rejects it. Who is right, who is wrong ? Between love and anger, emancipation and guilt, HEIS is a blood and a life story : a family tale. With its combination of old and new technology (VHS and HD), with a combination of a hypermodern and nostalgic look, Anais captures the spirit of her generation, children from the 90s and adults from the 2010s, a style she calls "emergency cinema". But Anaïs also explores universal issues and occupations, such as family, guilt, and the daily struggle between our mind, body and heart, hence the Greek word "heis": to become one.
The cross-media project "HEIS" is one of several works that expands the notion of cinema, combining different art expressions and media technologt. The whole project consists of "heis (chroniques)" (90'), a feature film in the cinema, a five-part web television series "pile ou face" (50') and an art installation "_heis (on the wall)" consisting of various media, both physical and digital, which point to both the feature film and the web tv series.
« The themes that Anaïs deals with in her story are essential, important, serious, but the freedom so powerful that the film exudes lightness and grace. Enormous grace. »

« The sensory experience of HEIS brings to mind a house of mirrors, in which each frame introduces a new contextual perspective; adding depth and layers of empathetic qualities
to that which has come before.»

Directors note:
_heis (chroniques) is a two speeds film, two languages dedicated to two generations, youth and parents. This is a love and a anger story, an emancipation and a guilt story, a blood and a life story : a family story.
No matter the period, the country and the language, this theme stays very complicated.
_heis (chroniques) is the mothers’ worrying, the daughters’ desire, the sons’ resignation or maybe the opposite. It’s the salt and the sugar of the brotherhood. The bitterness of intolerance, the sweetness of understanding. The right to go or the duty to stay Families are like elevators, if you mess with the buttons, you can get stuck. But it’s hard not to take it as you can’t go through 80 floors without an elevator.
