På AMIFF vil Marit Paasche holde et foredrag om filmen «Hiroshima mon amour», i forbindelse med visningen av filmen. Den er fra 1959, laget av Alain Resnais sammen med forfatteren Marguerite Duras. Handlingen er satt til Hiroshima et tiår etter at byen ble rammet av atombomben. Filmen rører ved traumet av hendelsen, og mediterer over både offentlige og private strategier for å huske og responderer på den. Foredraget baserer seg på essayet "Fra Bedford Falls til Hiroshima" i boken Et annet lerret. Fire historier om film og billedkunst, av Marit Paasche (Feil forlag, 2103).

At AMIFF, art historian Marit Paasche will hold a lecture in connection with the screening of "Hiroshima mon Amour" (1959, Alain Resnais). Please note that the lecture will be in norwegian, and the film will be subtitled in English.

The film is set in Hiroshima 10 years after the city was hit by the atom bomb, and the film touches on the trauma the city suffered because of this, and the personal and public strategies of remembering and responding to this trauma.  The lecture is based on a chapter from Paasches own book "Another Canvas. Four stories about film and art" (Feil forlag, 2013).

Marit Paasche er kunsthistoriker, kritiker og kurator. Hun var forskningsleder ved Videokunstarkivet i perioden 2013-2015, og har film- og videokunst som sitt spesialfelt. Dette er også et tema som har vært gjenstand for flere bøker fra Paasche's side, blant andre Lives and Videotapes: The Inconsistent History of Norwegian Video Art (Feil forlag, 2015) og Et annet lerret. Fire historier om film og billedkunst (Feil forlag, 2013). I tillegg har hun vært medredaktør av We Are Living on Star (Sternberg Press, 2014), A Thousand Eyes: Media Technology, Law, and Aesthetics (Sternberg Press, 2011) og Urban Images: Unruly Desires in Film and Architecture (Sternberg Press 2011). I år kom hun ut med kritikersuksessen Hannah Ryggen. En fri på Pax forlag.

Paasche har omfattende undervisningsaktivitet ved Kunstakademiet i Oslo og ved andre kunstakademier, og hun har kuratert flere store utstillinger. Blant de siste er Vi lever på en stjerne på Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, som hun var ansvarlig for sammen med Tone Hansen i 2014, og Det menneskelige mønster, som hun gjorde med Will Bradley på Kunsthall Oslo i 2011.

Marit Paasche is an art historian and former head of research at the Norwegian Video Art Archive. She now works as an art critic, curator and writer. Her field of specialty is American and European contemporary art, with focus on video art and experimental film.

Paasche was curator for the major exhibition We Are Living On a Star at Henie Onstad Art Center with Tone Hansen in 2014. She has also curated exhibitions like The Human Pattern at Kunsthall Oslo (with Will Bradley in 2011), Deadlock Exhibited with Tone Hansen and Anna S. Gudmundsdottir at Kunsthall Exnergasse, Vienna (2008), and The Society of Mind, National Museum of Art, Oslo (2005).

Paasche has recently published Hannah Ryggen: En fri / Hannah Ryggen: A Free One (Pax, 2016), Lives and Videotapes: The Inconsistent History of Norwegian Video Art (Feil forlag, 2015), and Et annet lerret. Fire historier om film og billedkunst /Another Canvas. Four stories about film and art (Feil forlag, 2013). She has also been an editor of several books, including We Are Living on Star (Sternberg Press, 2014), A Thousand Eyes: Media Technology, Law, and Aesthetics (Sternberg Press, 2011), and Urban Images: Unruly Desires in Film and Architecture (Sternberg Press 2011).
