Ruth Aitken

Ruth Alexander Aitken is a Scottish artist and curator based in Tromsø. Through a blurring of the lines between curation, art, performance and community care, she seeks to present both critical and real spaces where communities can enjoy and engage with art and with each other. She has a BA(Hons) in Time Based Art from Dundee University and an MA in Contemporary Art from Kunstakademiet i Tromsø, and co-founded projects [ KINOBOX ] and Failure, Understanding, Care (&Kunst). Her practice typically revolves around considering the systems - political, ethical, philosophical - within which we live, and how their structures reveal, enforce or undermine the ideologies and narratives they espouse.
