Elle Sofe Sara, based in Guovdageaidnu (Kautokeino), is a choreographer and director who works at the interlaces of video art, filmmaking, dance and theatre. In her works she regularly sheds light on the social, political and cultural peculiarities and challenges of the Sámi People. In 2021 Elle Sofe is the festival profile at the Arctic Arts Festival in Harstad, Norway. In 2019, she won the Moon Jury Award for her short film “Ribadit” at Imagine Native Film Festival in Canada. Elle Sofe is also one of four talents in Talent Norway’s filmmakers program. Elle Sofe is one of the founders of Dáiddadállu/ Sámi artist collective.

At AMIFF 2020 you can experience almost all earlier short films and video work by Sara, in the programme Sami Short Films screened Sunday 18 October. Sara will be present by video link after the screening, in conversation with film specialist Monica Mecsei.
